National Park/ Plan Policy Contents Breacon Beacons BBNP Unitary Development Plan, Consultation Draft March 2002 Policy G2: Major Development. Will not be permitted within the Park, except where material considerations outweigh the NP designation in the wider public interest. Policy S9: Proposals for power generation for the national grid. A proposal (which is not major development) will be permitted where it conforms to other policy, and will satisfy 3 categories of environmental criteria. Policy S10: Small scale energy generation for local use. A single wind turbine, or other small scheme will be permitted if: i) it serves local needs’ ii) the NP’s qualities are not compromised, and iii) public enjoyment of the Park’s special qualities is not effected. The Broads Broads Local Plan May 1997 Policy INF 10: Renewable Energy. Development will be permitted where it can be clearly demonstrated that there will be no adverse effect on landscape, wildlife, waterways or built environment. Policy INF 11: Wind Turbines. Major development will not be permitted except where an overriding national need cannot be site-satisfied outwith the Broads. Small scale proposals for local needs will be permitted if environmental criteria are met. Dartmoor DNP Local Plan Revised Deposit April 2003 Policy UT7: Local Energy Schemes. Small scale renewable energy schemes will be permitted, to serve local needs, subject to environmental & amenity considerations. Exmoor ENP Local Plan Policy LNC 17. Small scale renewable energy Revised Deposit Draft March 2003 proposals for local needs will be permitted provided they are compatible with the conservation of the landscape and wildlife of the NP. Policy LNC 18. Proposals for commercial wind turbines will not be permitted where they will harm the natural heritage or culture of the Park. Permission will be granted for unobtrusive small scale wind turbines for individual properties or groups there-of, provided that there are no adverse environmental or cumulative effects. Lake District LDNP Local Plan 1998 Policy RE1: Wind Energy Large scale wind energy developments will not be permitted. Large scale schemes will not be permitted unless they conform with Policy MD1: no alternative is available outwith the Park, siting/ impact measures. North York Moors NYMNP Local Plan May 2003 Policy U2: Electricity Generation The development of small scale installations for the generation of electricity, particularly from renewable energy sources, will be permitted provided the development is to meet local needs, and complies with (General) Policy GP3 of this Plan. Peak District PDNP Local Plan March 2001 Policy LU4: Renewable Energy Generation. a) Development will be permitted….provided that it can be accommodated without harm to the Valued characteristics…of the area. b) Transmission lines should always be placed underground. c) Wind farms will not be permitted.
